About the Artist
Silas Schletterer (1976) graduated in 2000 at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam. After a couple of years of working as an illustrator, Silas decided to follow his heart and started focussing on his autonomous work. His background as an illustrator still shines through in his paintings. Animals and humans are the main subjects in Silas’ work. With his eye for subtle details and the boldness of his colour palette, Silas creates a magical and almost hypnotizing atmosphere. His work is often cinematographic, in which nature claims a central role. The quest for perfection and the relation between human and animal are recurring subjects. |
